Technology Goals

Goals

Archbishop Ryan School will implement technology usage in daily lessons in all areas of the curriculum while addressing the development of literacy skills. Students will learn to read to find information, think critically, problem solve, and learn to express their thoughts in writing. Given the variety of equipment available at Archbishop Ryan School, computers, SmartBoards, digital and video cameras, the students will experience learning beyond the textbook. It is our hope that the dynamics of our classrooms will be transformed to reflect the influence of our entire globe. This emphasis on technology will prepare our students for continuing educational goals now and in the more distant future for a competent place in tomorrow’s workplace.

Summary Remarks from the Visiting Team Report, November 9 – 11, 2003

“The evaluators want to reiterate important aspects of our overall findings. There is an overwhelming feeling of camaraderie and respect among the staff and administrators at Archbishop Ryan School. The school’s strong Catholic identity is evident, and is reflected in the interaction among staff, administration, parents and students. This respect is reflected by the students in their courteous manner toward each other, staff members, and visitors to their classrooms. The students’ self confidence and enthusiasm for learning is a testimony to the support and encouragement of the staff.

With respect to the project itself, the evaluators were impressed with the emphasis on staff training to insure that technology skills would be integrated into and enhance the existing successful program. The willingness of the staff to be challenged to grow professionally is to be commended.”
